To try again takes more than just determination, it also takes courage.
If you’ve fallen over, you’ve probably heard the laughter. Some sit down and laugh as you struggle to climb. Passive viewers who get entertainment out of others’ failing.
But those that do not try are doomed to stay where they are.
If you’ve attempted to bake a cake, it probably didn’t turn out as you expected. You could follow the recipe but sometimes things just don’t turn out as expected. There are always speedbumps on a road to remind you to slow down, but those are only there to remind you to take a break. Because once those bumps go, you’ve made it to the motorway.
I’ve failed many times in my life. I can’t remember the last time I succeeded on the first try.
It’s about learning. Every attempt should teach you something but don’t just look to your own mistakes to find lessons. To learn from others is a gift. Some people have lived entire lifetimes, whilst others are just starting.
I sadly wish I knew this advice when I was younger, had I listened more, and absorbed other people’s lessons, I may have had a different life. That’s not to say my current life is bad, but perhaps a few embarrassing moments could have been avoided.
I’ve spoken before about my past relationship. It was toxic from both sides, I’m not innocent in this story. But I’ve learnt from it.
I look back on it with thanks that it happened. It may have been one of the toughest experiences of my life, one filled with a lot of sadness, depression and anxiety but it shaped who I am today. Had I not had that experience, I wouldn’t have learnt things about myself. I believe that the relationship was always doomed to end that way because I knew so little about myself. I knew that I hated myself, but couldn’t figure out why. I knew that something was wrong, but didn’t know if it was me. It was only once I took a look at myself that I saw it.
I was at fault. Of course, I never deny that.
Admitting failure is the first step to changing it. The future is undecided, and you can be the one to make it. You can keep repeating the same mistakes, or you can accept that you won’t be good at the start. You can accept and learn how to improve, how to develop, and how to learn.
That’s all from me today. It was a short one but thanks for reading. I’ve been super busy working on my Steam game, there’ll be a post soon about it, so keep an eye out on that.
