Rating my own books because I have an ego

Everyone has an ego, and I’m going to fuel my own by rating my own books. I’ve written 13 books (not including web novels) and I’m going to rate them in order because I can and I need something to post for this week. (This post is me, fueling my ego whilst I’m drunk. Ignore it if you want)

Before we begin, check out my books: https://linktr.ee/owenpichelskibooks

In last place: Is it Snowing yet.

The reason this is last is mostly that it was written first. I like to think I’ve improved since then. I think it’s filled with a lot of cliches that could be improved upon, but I also think it’s similar to a lot of my recent stuff. If you were to read my work, I’d always suggest starting with this because it shows the improvement above everything else.

Next: An Aspect of Hope.

I think An Aspect of Hope is generic, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Next up: The Hunting Trio.

I think the Hunting Trio is one of my best ideas. It was created with a ‘who cares’ philosophy which is why it may come across as weird. But overall, it’s not bad, just strange.

In 10th place: Alterum: The Mineral Continent

It sucks that this is the 10th, but it has to be. This book needed to be the way it is. It had to be filled with politics and world-building. If this book was any different then I’d be writing a bunch of gibberish that I didn’t like.

9th place: This meddling world

I rewrote this book for its anniversary. The original wasn’t bad but it could have improved a lot. Overall, I fixed a lot, but I think this book did a lot well but could have done a lot better in other places.

8th place: Oscar Pat: The Golden Plate

The first Oscar Pat book was filled with worries. There was a lot I didn’t know about the Oscar Pat series but this was still the start of my favourite series. I’d go on to write the Oscar Pat series loving it. So, I must give praise to the first book, as I believe it started something that helped me immensely in terms of mental health and also writing ability.

7th place: Oscar Pat: The Hospital Of Creation

It’s unfair to put this book this high because I do like it. It went through a lot of last-minute changes but overall I don’t hate it. I think it’s massively important in the Oscar Pat Saga but, sadly, I do believe the other books are better.

Next up: A Hobbyist’s chance.

A Hobbyist’s Chance was the third novel I wrote. It taught me a lot but also suffers from a lot of errors. I don’t think it’s bad but it certainly isn’t the best. A lot of mistakes I made in this book were fixed in future books. For starters, the characters are underdeveloped at parts and it felt rushed (despite it being one of my longest books). It just felt strange to me, almost random in a sense and impossible. But despite that, I credit A Hobbyist’s Chance as being the book that massively improved my writing ability due to it constantly swapping between two main characters, but still, I prefer other books…

But, moving on: Alterum: The Other World.

I don’t know why it is this high. I really like Alterum. I enjoy world-building and character development, but I also think that it is this high purely for a “masturbatory” reason. My friend described my stories as “masturbatory” and I completely agree, all books including this and above are 100% based on my own fantasies, but then, who is to say other books aren’t? Alterum was a lot of fun to write, it was surprisingly simple yet filled with a lot of child-like friendships that I suppose I wanted to experience more when younger.

NEXT! Years of Hesitancy

On the topic of Masurbatory, this is the major one. I spoke briefly in another post about the initial idea coming from a dream, and that probably tells you all you need to know. It’s a type of ideal love that ends up working out in the end. It’s a ‘love that will always succeed’ but regardless, I think this book is well written, if not rushed at points. It went through a lot of changes and difficulties when writing the story, some people may not like the story but I think it turned out well.

3rd, Oscar Pat: The Gears in the Shadows.

The only reason this is 3rd is that the 4th Oscar Pat book is 2nd. This book has a lot. Personally, I think this book is filled with great developments, plot twists, backstories, and more. This would be my favourite book but I love the 4th because of what it does. Speaking off…

2nd: Oscar Pat: The Filling Catalyst

The 4th Oscar Pat book is in second place! I enjoy this book. It is the culmination of the Oscar Pat series, but not the end. Stakes have never been higher and tension rules the playing field. Oscar Pat 4 runs around its creative field as all sides battle it out to reach their goals. Questions are answered, and answers lead to more questions! I loved writing this book, it was so much fun!

But there can only be one winner… And that is:

One’s Confined Life.

Why did I put One’s Confined Life first? The answer is simple.

The ending.

I think One’s Confined Life has the best ending I’ve ever written. I love the creativity of the ending, alongside the build-up. I struggled at first to create that ending, but I believe that it reached a satisfying, if not shocking, ending. I also love the characters! It’s another one of my “Who cares” books that I wrote without worrying about much. I just wrote away without a care about what contradicts what, I just wanted to write something someone may find fun.

So that’s all my books! If you are new to my stuff, then I’d recommend you read them in the order I’m about to say, the only reason being that I believe it shows my improvement in writing.

First:

Is it snowing yet?

A Hobbyist’s chance.

This Meddling World

The rest…

I think the above three books are standouts in terms of writing. I just think they did a lot for where I currently am, and by reading them it may help you understand my writing style better and who I am as a person.

So that’s it. Thanks for reading! That was my very biassed opinion on my books to fuel my ego. I wrote this whilst drunk, so you may say that this blog is returning to its roots.

  1. Thanks to you, I see myself ranking my favorite web serials when I publish them in the future.

Not books, because I have no plans to publish those. Web serials are easier to deal with for a lazy person like me.

Don’t follow my example, this laziness is the reason why I’m not getting anywhere in the life. On this depressing note, I shall end this comment.
