2024 is coming to an end. It’s been a hell of a year. Just like in 2023, it was painful. It was a very slow and gruelling year that beat me up mentally. But, did I achieve the goals I discussed at the end of last year? Probably not.
Honestly, I can’t remember any of them. I’m having to look them up now. In 2024, I’ve been so confused and uncertain about what direction I want my life to go in. I’ve been so close to just throwing a lot away. This blog was once a place where I would write often, now I hardly write for it. In fact, I haven’t written much at all.
2024, overall, sucked.
I didn’t hate it, it had some fun moments such as a few holidays with friends, but I feel as if my shoulders and back were so heavy throughout the year as if every day I was exhausted from waking up and living my life. I turned 25 in 2024, and I think it made me realise just what I was doing with my life. I couldn’t find comfort with any of it. It is funny to me that there was a time when I felt excited and eager to post on this blog, yet now it feels like a chore. Looking back on myself from years ago, I think he was optimistic, which is ironic because I know that I from a few years ago would say he is a pessimist.
This blog, over this year, has mostly consisted of what I call “drunken posts” (posts I’ve written whilst drunk). That isn’t to say I’m an alcoholic, it just means that drunk me says the things sober me doesn’t. I will probably keep this style of posts going, they were already very inconsistent anyway, so if there are posts in 2025, there’ll be more of them. I’ll probably speak more about this in my “2025 plans” post, but I’ll be slowing down on posts, just like I did this year.
Alright, enough about that, let’s talk about what I wanted to do this year, and see if I did any of it.
First, let’s give a quick rundown of what I said I wanted to do in the year 2024
- Release Update 11 for my Drinking App (Drink To That)
- Release a Major update for Majority Rules
- YouTube – Keep uploading, and trying to do daily uploads
- Live stream at least once a month
- Make music
Looking at the above list, I did a few of those things, but not in the way I expected.
Let’s start with the Game Development stuff.
I did release Update 11 of Drink To That.
I didn’t release an update for Majority Rules. That is still planned, but development had to slow down as other projects took over.
The one thing I have consistently done for years is my YouTube Channel. I love it. It gives me so much motivation to play games I can’t bring myself to play, and I just find it randomly fun to talk to myself. I’m going to keep going. And the channel, surprisingly, is doing well. We are so close to monetisation on that channel that I am so motivated to see what next year brings with it, and I’m not planning to slow down.
I almost stream on Twitch once a month, I think I may have missed a couple of months here and there, but I did more than I thought I would, so that’s a win for me.
Making music is interesting. I didn’t make the music I wanted to, but I did make some form of music, but it isn’t out yet. The current game I’m working on (Cosmos Crew: Astral Synergy), is hopefully going to be released next year (2025), that game will have some of the music that I made, as well as a few pieces of music I made a few years ago. Hopefully, once the game goes into early access I will release a video on my YouTube channel that contains the songs from the game.
Well, that’s it. I’d say that compared to my 2023 list of things, my 2024 plans were far more grounded. In 2023, I gave myself a lot of pressure and goals that I just couldn’t reach. Clearly, 2024 me gave himself more simple plans involved in the things I enjoyed doing at the time (which is the way to make goals)
What are my goals for 2025? Well, you’ll have to wait, as the countdown to the end of the year begins.
