Reviewing my 2023 goals (Quarter Three)

Almost to the end of the year. Time is moving too quickly.

First, let’s remind ourselves of my goals.

  • Release 2 games (1 released)
  • Keep posting on this blog
  • Keep my web novel going
  • Release Oscar Pat 5 (DONE)
  • Get monetisation on YouTube
  • Read a book a month (FAILED)
  • Exercise more.

We are now in the final stretch of the year. Time has gone by too quickly.

In fact, I’ll say I hate how quickly it’s gone.

July and August were very tiring months for me as I was struggling to find a balance between work and many other aspects of my life. Luckily, those have slowed down, for now, and I’m back into my usual routine.

So, let’s go over what I’ve achieved since my last update in June.

Starting with the top! I still haven’t released another game, but Drink To That got a massive update that was released in August! The update alone took me almost three months so I’m happy that’s done. I’ve also got a little project me and a friend created during a Game Jam that I may be working on.

This blog has slowed down. I mentioned it in the previous post, and things have been very slow. I’ve been busy with work and haven’t had the motivation to write anything. I was struggling a lot this last quarter with a ton of mental health issues. I am getting better, but some things had to take breaks. Writing was one of them, as I had zero motivation. I recently found more, but I’m not fully there yet. For me, writing was a huge help to my mental health, a lot of posts on this blog are ones I’ve written during my worst times. And they helped me massively.

My web novel will not be returning any time soon. Sorry to say, but I have no idea when the web novel will continue.

I managed to keep up with YouTube during my busy times, and I’m glad I did. I’ve gone from just over 100 subscribers to almost 500! My goal for the year was 1000 and I’m almost halfway there. Thank you everyone for watching my videos!

Last time, I spoke about how I was doing well with exercise. I spoke about how I had a routine and that I hoped to keep it up. That stopped throughout July and August. I was busy with work and had no time to do exercise, and when I did it was mostly just running. I hadn’t played Tennis in weeks! But there is something good to come out of this. Recently, I’ve been training to run a 5K. Normally, I just ran for a mile and a bit, trying to get faster and faster, but this time, I’ve given myself a goal of doing a 5K. I’ve gotten into a bit of a routine, but I’m not fully there yet. I had a month to get myself ready for a race that I’ll be doing in September. I am asthmatic and my asthma is a huge factor in stopping me from enjoying exercise.

To end, let’s talk piano. I spoke last time about getting back into it and that has completely changed. Work had slaughtered me, and I was unable to balance work, practice, running, game development, writing and my mental health.

Some things had to get cut and that was one of them. Sadly, I can’t see myself getting back into it like I did before. I want to, but I’m not hopeful.

So, what can I hope for in the final stretch? I cannot say. I hope that whatever happens in my life, that it eases my mind. I hope that something good finally comes and I get what I want. I also hope I enjoy it and keep going.

2023 has been a challenging year for me. I said this would be MY year, but I don’t know if that is true.

But, the year isn’t over.

Thanks for reading, I hope everyone enjoys this final bit of 2023 and may 2024 be even better.
