We are around halfway through the year, so I once again find myself reflecting on what has come. It’s certainly been a cold year, but I’m glad to see we are now having warm (although very wet) weather.
First, let’s remind ourselves of my goals.
- Release 2 games
- Keep posting on this blog
- Keep my web novel going
- Release Oscar Pat 5 (DONE)
- Get monetisation on YouTube
- Read a book a month (FAILED)
- Exercise more.
So, let’s go into detail about the progress I’ve made on certain things.
Starting from the top of the list, releasing 2 games.
I’ve released one! I finished reviving that old project I mentioned and released it as Block Swipe! Available now on Android.
Additionally, I’ve also updated Drink To That a bit and created a merchandise store for my games. I haven’t worked on much else, but that one is half complete.
Next on the list are the writing-related tasks. This blog has slowed down. I have struggled to find the motivation to write. It’s not just this blog as my web novels have also suffered. I’ve started to rewrite bits of my old web novel, Continuous School, but only got to about 60 chapters before stopping for a long time. I will get around to finishing but at the moment, it’s unlikely. This blog is the same, I probably won’t have any posts for a while. The next one may even be the third instalment in this little series.
Before talking about YouTube, I wish to jump to the one about exercise. I’ve, surprisingly, kept up really well with it. Me and a friend are keeping each other forced into it and we’ve been working out twice a week and even started playing tennis. I don’t see that goal going anywhere anytime soon. We’ve kept it up for a couple of months already and hopefully will keep it going for a long time.
Now, let’s talk about YouTube.
I’ve made a lot of progress with YouTube. YouTube is the only thing I have enjoyed recently. I’ve enjoyed making tons of videos and recording several series. I’ve seen a big increase in subscribers and am getting closer to my 1000 sub-goal. I’m only on 80 subscribers at the time of writing this, but that’s closer than I was before. I’ve slowed down on the streaming as I started to not enjoy it, but I’ve kept up the local records and uploaded those. They are much more enjoyable to me at the moment, but I want to get back into streaming a little bit.
But that’s not all, there is something I’ve actually been doing recently that I am kinda enjoying. I got back into playing the piano! I have been trying to play a little bit every day, but have already failed. I am returning to it with a new way of learning, and trying to improve the things I struggled at the most, which was mostly hand independence. I’m already noticing an improvement but lack the motivation and ability to sit still long enough to practise well.
I’ve been really busy with work, and I’ve been struggling to find motivation during my free time to do anything. I just hope it returns at some point.
To end, I wish to talk about my mental health. In these past few months, I have struggled to find any form of motivation. The reason this blog has slowed down and I’ve not been working on many projects is because I’ve just been having a terrible time lately. I haven’t been able to do much I enjoy, and I’m returning to an old cycle where I start to worry about my various projects. I’ve tried not to care about all my unsuccessful projects, but recently it’s been impossible to ignore. I wish to quickly mention this as this is a review post, and I believe that talking about mental health will always make things better. So, that’s what I’ve done. This blog was always a place for me to speak my mind, and just writing this has helped a bit.
That’s it for half of 2023. We are already halfway through the year, and it’s flown by. Time moves too quickly. Thanks for reading, I hope to be back soon, but don’t hold me to it.
