2022: Happy Holidays (Christmas Message)

I always enjoy Christmas and the time leading up to it. I’d say it’s my favourite time of the year. I’m not a massively Christmassy person in the sense that I put up tons of decorations and such, but in the fact that I greatly enjoy the family time it creates.

I grew up in a household where Christmas was a time for family. That’s what it was seen as. It was seen as a time for family and that’s how I’ll always see it. My family are close but not, we all get along well and see each other often, but there is little we do together. I’d say I always felt different to my parents and siblings, almost misunderstood, but Christmas is a time when we all come together and enjoy the season. We always have the same tradition of a big meaty breakfast in the morning followed by presents and turkey before playing games in the evening.

I think the world slows down for Christmas, it always seemed like a time of peace and understanding. Everyone celebrates it differently but it’s a time when we are all one. We are all enjoying ourselves.

I’d say most people know of the World War 1 Christmas Truce, where French, German and British soldiers crossed trenches for Christmas. From December 24th to 26th they all celebrated each other and humanity. In one of the most violent wars, humanity was still alive. We all have families, we all have each other, and we all have someone.

In the wise words of Eiichiro Oda, “No one is born into this world to be alone.”

Let’s all celebrate the holidays with the ones we love and care about, and if you feel alone during this holiday season, just know that there is a person out there, a person thankful that you are alive and that you are, who you are.

And that is why I must thank you all.

Thank you for being here during 2022. It was a bumpy ride with a lot to still figure out, but I must always say thank you at the end of the year.

So once again, thank you.

And Happy Holidays.
