Gang Wars Chapter 13: The Clown

“Scott, are you seeing this?” Kyle said, hoping the connection had returned as he slowly stepped away from the strange man that walked closer. Each step felt like it was shaking the ground, as Clown wore heavy metal boots.

“I’m seeing it…” Scott’s static voice gulped down all the sweat in his mouth. “Have you got a plan?”

“Nope…”

Kyle wanted to test the waters, he held his gun by his side, ready to lift it at any moment.

His eyes were focused on Clown’s movement. Each step was slow but filled with impact.

THUD

Heavy steps only got closer as Kyle watched.

THUD

He couldn’t wait for another, he raised the gun in front of him, ready to shoot. But in the split second that he decided to, Clown had the same idea. Clown’s covered arms were raised as Kyle saw the metal barrels reflect the tiny flicker of light in the darkness.

“Oh, shit…” Kyle thought to himself as he dived down behind his parked car, only a millisecond before a barrage of bullets started to fly towards him, out of Clown’s arms.

“Scott!” Kyle screamed, “Give me an idea!”

“Give me a minute…” but the connection dropped again. Scott was being kept away from Kyle. They had no way of connecting.

Kyle didn’t possess such time. His car was being filled with holes, ready to explode as the fuel leaked out for every possible gap. His only chance was to duck as he moved away, and it was lucky that he did because for a second the night sky was lit up like day.

BANG!

Kyle’s car erupted like a volcanic eruption. A large fireball filled the sky as a dark layer of smoke separated him from Clown. This was his only chance.

Circling around the burning Car, Kyle blended into the darkness as he kept low.

He moved around as quickly as possible, taking large quiet strides as he had a rough idea of where Clown was. The bullets were still coming at him, so he hadn’t moved.

He poked his head out the side to measure the distance between him and Clown’s car. About 30 feet.

“I can make it…” He thought to himself.

Then on one last out-breath, he ran.

With his gun pointing towards Clown, shooting with every bullet in the chamber.

The inconsistent lighting wasn’t helping him in this battle, as he believed each bullet missed.

But that wasn’t the case.

Kyle continued to move, diving behind Clown’s car as Clown slowly started to turn around, ready to open fire.

“Here we go,” Kyle muttered as he jumped out from behind. There was no time for Clown to think. Kyle leapt out from the back as high as he could, even jumping off the car as he was ready to kick Clown’s head. His leg was perfectly in line.

Except…

SNAP!

“ARGH!” Kyle suddenly burst out screaming as his body collapsed to the floor.

His leg collided with Clown’s head with full force, but it was like hitting solid metal. The snapping was his leg shattering.

“What are you?” Kyle said as he saw Clown’s barrel up against his head, pointing ready to shoot.

Instinct kicked in as Kyle dodged the first few shots. Clown had to stop shooting to move, but as Kyle was up close, he could see that his bullets from earlier did hit. There were tears in his clothing, but no visible hole or wound.

In a moment of panic, Kyle did the only thing he could. He took his blade in his hand, and pushed himself off the ground with his arms, cutting at Clown’s side as his blade cleanly went through.

When Kyle turned around to see the damage, he wasn’t expecting wires and electricity to be flying out.

“Kyle…” Scott called out, finally getting through. But it was too late, Clown stood tall above Kyle his imposing pressure was truly robotic. A creature so skilled at killing that it wasn’t human because he wasn’t.

With his broken leg, Kyle couldn’t move. The last thing he remembered was the blunt force of being punched in the face by the metal hand.
