As soon as he departed from Scott’s room, Kyle could feel the strange fresh air that was around him.
It wasn’t that he missed it, he just hadn’t felt it after being in a damp hacker’s room for so long. It was refreshing to his nostrils, but not his mind. As that was only focused on his goal.
He put the tiny little earpiece into his ear as he started to hear Scott’s voice call through.
“Can you hear me, Kyle?”
“Loud and clear,” Kyle replied. But the earpiece wasn’t the only thing he stole, as twiddling around his index finger, were the keys to Scott’s garage that was across the road. The cassettes used to make a lot of money from their vigilantisms. They had investors and played in the best interest of many people. Scott would spend his earnings on cars.
And the one Kyle was after, was Scott’s pride. A Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, in a sleek untouched grey. Scott never dared to drive it, because it brought too much attention to him.
However, Kyle was after its speed.
“Hey, Scott,” Kyle said as he opened the garage door, pulling off the cover as he revealed the beautiful body that protected the fierce engine.
“What?”
“If I crash your car, would you be mad?”
A heavy sigh came through the earpiece as Scott knew he had no way of replying. He could already hear the engine revving over the mic.
“Just be careful,” Scott said.
“I’ll try.”
Kyle had just one destination in mind, that capital’s grand building that stood at the centre.
It wasn’t the easiest journey, as there were many large open roads to take before he arrived, but that’s exactly why Kyle wanted to feel the wind against his face.
As once the sun had dipped, with his window rolled down, Kyle took off.
The engine purred as he drove it out the garage and quickly onto the main roads.
He knew they’d be empty. He knew he’d be able to fly freely.
It spanned several lanes, and looped around the entire central area. Over 100 miles of an endless loop. All of it was Kyles.
He could feel his blood racing around with speed as his headlights illuminated the way forward.
“Kyle…” Scott’s voice called through the ear piece, fading very quickly as the engine was too loud.
“Ky…” The same voice came again, this time Kyle slowed down to hear, and noticed the strange static sound that was overlapping it.
“Don’t… Hack… Out…” Scott’s words were constantly jumping in and out as the signal was breaking up.
“Scott?” Kyle asked as his body tensed up. His eyes darted to his side mirrors, looking at the dark world around him.
“Scott? Are you there?” He called out again, as he slowly pushed his foot back down.
But before he could, a large pair of headlights blinded him from behind. Bright enough to light up the entire road in front of them, seeing many miles ahead.
“What the hell?” Kyle said he protected his eyes from the reflecting light, but he couldn’t stop it from getting closer and closer.
“RUN!” Scott screamed as Kyle didn’t wait to hear his words.
Kyle’s foot was as far down as it could go. The car behind turned off their powerful headlights, vanishing into the night, but Kyle didn’t stop.
He could faintly see a few dots of light chasing after him.
Composure was what he needed, and that’s what he did. Kyle took a deep breath as he kept his eyes on the road. He turned his head up to the nearby turnoff, quickly escaping up the ramp to a roundabout where he hoped to jump onto the next junction.
But even if he quickly drifted around it, the car still followed.
“You gotta be kidding me?” And it was only getting closer.
“Come on. Come on.” Kyle said as he tried to give the car everything it’s got, but it wasn’t enough.
His fear was signalled by a surprising hit to the back bumper, creating a jolt that knocked his head forward.
Kyle tried to turn off him, releasing the car’s grip, but it was no use. Any drastic turns would spin him out. If that was the case, it would then come down to strength and weapons.
“Alright,” Kyle said, confidently as he spun the steering wheel with all its might. Almost turning the car a complete 180 before the car behind him smashed into his side.
The glass windows shattered as Kyle protected his head. The shards all landed around him and on his lap. But after a few seconds of moving, both cars stopped.
SMASH
The windscreen at the front was broken open as Kyle kicked it. He climbed out, looking at the dark car behind him. He tightly held his knife in one hand, and a gun in the other.
His senses were on high alert, it was too dark to see anything.
And then…
CLANK… SMASH
The entire roof of the car was flung off and bounced against the ground.
Then a figure stepped out.
Throughout his time, he had heard rumours. Rumours of a person said to be the best hitman in the world. The ultimate killer. They dressed heavily in a large dark cloak that covered their almost hulk-like build. That person was said to be working for The Claws. No one had seen their face as it was covered by a strange dark mask that possessed no eye holes.
And now, they were standing before Kyle.
The Clown.
