Satisfying the empty void through validation

Social media. What more needs to be said. Social media is the biggest place for opinions. It’s so full of opinions, that I’ve already spoken about it many times before. But this time I’ll be going into a bit more detail about one particular part. Validation.

Validation is the idea that you need to be recognised. It’s as simple as that. With social media, people like to have their thoughts and opinions heard and recognised.

You can probably find a million opinions online, all of which are different. Typically, these opinions will come from someone small. Those with more than 1000 followers will speak their mindless than someone with 10 followers. But why is this?

I can’t say, because I don’t know if there is an actual reason, but I’ll give my thoughts.

I think most people believe they can influence someone’s opinion. Someone with 10 followers thinks that someone with 1000 followers will listen or even see them. But deep down, I think it’s more than just that.

Because deeper down there is that satisfaction of being recognised. Not for the good of the world, but for the good of themselves.

They say that by converting someone to a religion like Christianity, you are saving them in the afterlife. (Or so they claim). But do those that preach it also believe it? Can they truly say that the words they preach are for the person they are speaking to and not themselves? Who can say? You’d have to ask someone personally. Typically, in cinema, there are moments where a characters ‘faith’ is tested.

The idea that nothing bad should happen to you because you are ‘good’ or ‘do as you’re told’ is another form of validation. But It’s not as loud as the social media example I gave above, because their true thoughts are hidden away, in their mind.

I believe both people are after that self-satisfaction, but they achieve it differently.

There is a hole in their life, and this validation is an attempt to fill it.

There are many ways to fill a hole in your life. But typically, the ways that involve others aren’t going to help you much. You’re only giving yourself empty satisfaction that will quickly diminish because at the end of the day, you are happy with yourself.

Of course, I’m not referring to everyone, and maybe I’m referring to myself. This blog, in a form, could be considered validation. Or I’d say it once was.

Originally, I’d agree that this blog was made for a selfish validation reason, or becoming famous. But, as I kept it up, it slowly turned into a bit of a hobby and passion project. The original thoughts of validation are still there, but maybe not as loud.

That’s all I’ve got today, thanks for reading. It was a bit of a weird one, as this blog is getting into a weird place with content. I’m trying to keep up with at least 2 posts a week, but 1 minimum.

Be sure to follow to stay up to date and get notified when I post.
