2021: My goals for 2022

I have no strong opinions about this year ending. To me, this year was identical to 2020; I’ve kept calling this year 2020 part 2.

But towards the end of 2021 things started to change. I’ve already spoken about what happened this year in another post, so go read that here.

This post is all about 2022 and to say I have big plans is an understatement.

So let’s begin!

To better explain my plans, let’s break this down into sections. First, let’s talk about what I’ll be doing with my writing in 2022.

There won’t be as many books released in 2022. I can’t give an exact number, but ideally, there will be at least 3. One book I’ll release in 2022 will be the final book in the Oscar Pat series. Currently, I’m aiming for April 2022. And in late 2022, the final Alterum book will be released. Both Oscar Pat and Alterum will be having their final books in this new year. And I’m excited to finish them off. But other than that, I don’t have many plans for other novels. I still want to write more, but because of all my other plans, I have to take a step back from some things.

My web novel, Gang Wars, will end in 2022, probably sometime around February or March. And my other web novel, The Story of a Hero named Fishy, will continue on with hopefully 1 or 2 chapters a week.

The last bit of writing, this blog, will 100% continue as is. This blog will be my largest producer of writing this year as I’ll still try and post as regularly and often as possible (Please give me your ideas on what to post). So be sure to follow!

Throughout my life, I’ve always loved music. Music is something I love and I’ve always wanted to get into composing music. I did study it in school, but that was almost 5 years ago. So, in 2022, I hope to create an album. Not your typical album with songs, but an orchestral, almost video-game-like, album. I can’t say when it’ll happen, if at all, but I can be hopeful and excited. My current idea is to use my books as a theme for these compositions. I’ll be trying to compose a movie soundtrack to go along with some scenes. It’ll be a fun experiment, who knows what will happen.

As a hobby, I used to play the piano. That hobby quickly died at university, but maybe 2022 will be the year I give it another proper go.

In 2021, I jumped headfirst into the 3D modelling software, Blender. I’ve spoken and shown many projects that I’ve created this year, and hope to continue and learn a lot more. I want to experiment with various effects like smoke, water and fire. As well as work on a larger animation project. I want to get better at animating and maybe creating cool fights and particle systems. I’ve got a lot of ideas in my head and want to maybe create a minute-long sequence, just to see what I can do. But, that’s probably my impossible idea. Like with making a webtoon, I like to create an impossible idea that probably won’t happen. And currently, this is that idea.

2021 also saw me quickly drop off in drawing practice. Drawing was something that I wanted to get really good at, but since writing took over my life I had less and less time to work on it. I suppose I did replace it with Blender, so that’s close enough.

Alright, let’s speak about game development. Towards the end of 2021, I got back into game development. And I’m hoping to keep it up. Currently, I’ve got an idea for a mobile game that I will try to release, as well as another two ideas. This brings me onto this next topic.

Twitch and YouTube. I’ve spoken many times before about a YouTube video project that was put off due to procrastination. That project recently started back up but has slowly stopped. But that doesn’t matter, because I’m going to try my hardest to finish it and release the video in 2022. I’m going to do my absolute best at finishing it. As for the other game, it links to Twitch. I’m going to be creating a little Twitch game that viewers can interact and play with. It’ll be a simple game that involves two teams, so it should be fun to see what happens. This project is still early in development, so it might be far away. But I want to stream the development process, so maybe I’ll do that once or twice.

As for streaming on Twitch, I will be back, but not as frequently. I’m going to stream without a set schedule and just stream the games I want to play for an hour or two. I’ll still be uploading highlights to my YouTube, so nothing will change there.

And finally, let’s talk about podcasts.

One Dice will return. There are no plans as of when, but there will at least be 1 new episode next year.

Arbitrary Echo will 100% be back, and hopefully with way more stuff. I’m hoping. I actually haven’t mentioned anything to MuddaDukka yet, but I’m just that optimistic. I want to do more with Arbitrary Echo’s YouTube and also help boost the podcast. I want to gain an audience and need to find ways to do so.

Well, I think that’s all for my 2022 plans. I can’t say much else but it seems like a lot. Honestly, who knows what will happen in 2022. I’ve recently started a new job so I won’t have as much free time, and I’m sure I’ll still be lazy and procrastinate, but that’s something I need to work on.

For now, thank you for reading.
