The Screaming Political Void

Today’s post is going to be an interesting one, possibly very controversial, as today I’ll be speaking on my view on the world/politics.

But, before we begin, this is my opinion.

So, let’s jump in.

To start, I agree with a lot of liberal policies. But I disagree with a lot of liberals.

Hypocrisy is the word I would use to describe the world.

The world is full of hypocrites, myself included.

What do I mean by this? Well, I believe the root problem comes from the conflict we are faced with, especially in the United States of America.

The US is an interesting place for politics, as the US is a loudmouth in the political climate. A lot of people believe that what occurs in the US must be occurring everywhere else, and this is seen a lot in terms of racism. Possibly, every country deals with racism, but not to the same extent the US does. Other countries are better at dealing with it, and others have things reversed. But the US seems to believe that their problems should be viewed worldwide and spread to the rest of the world.

‘If it’s happening in the US, it’s happening everywhere else’.

Now, I’m from the UK, and we do have our issues, primarily racism. We saw it a lot at the Euro 2020. We aren’t innocent.

But how does the UK deal with racism? Well, I think it tries to ‘ignore it’.

I’m not saying ‘ignore’ in a negative way like shove it under the rug and forget about it, but instead, it doesn’t shove it down your throats.

Whilst I’m sure 99% of the UK population are aware of racism in the country, I think they don’t need to be reminded every second because this can cause problems.

The more you talk about an issue, the more it may occur. (I have no scientific evidence here, I’m just saying what I think). A lot of people want to get on with their day, it’s why people are annoyed when a protest stops them from getting to work or just relaxing. It could be said that a protest is annoying people in hopes of change, but these people that you annoy aren’t going to be the ones to create the change, the government are. If anything, you’re just making more enemies.

You don’t need to be reminded that racism is bad, you just need to get on with your day, and when you do see racism from someone you know or in the street just say:

“Hey, that’s not nice.” and have a nice civil talk with them, which brings me to my next point: ‘civil’.

The time of peaceful protests is dead. I believe that humanity is naturally evil and selfish, and all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch. If 100 people are protesting for change, all it takes is 1 bad person to start the spread. People want to riot. People want a reason to loot and hurt people. People don’t care for the cause.

Every single group has a ‘bad apple’ as that’s what the whole ‘all cops are crooks’ or the ‘not all men’ things were about. They were about saying how it wasn’t all men but a large amount, which is fair enough. But here comes the hypocrisy.

It’s not hard to find hypocrisy online, Twitter is a minefield. Reverse racism or sexism is a great example of this. Due to historical events, some believe that certain people cannot be racist or sexist. The oppressed can say what they want due to what has happened to them. People will slate one group/thing and then praise another for the same thing due to race, sex or whatever.

This is an interesting attempt at gaining equality.

Fun sarcastic fact of the day: The best way to equality is by trying to switch the roles around and making the oppressors the oppressed. Yelling and screaming helps people understand.

More people want equality than people realise. People are willing to try and listen and have an understanding, but when they are constantly being shut down and yelled at for not jumping on the political bandwagon the second it takes off, it’s hard to do.

‘Everyone needs a voice or no one has one’, this seems to be what a lot of people believe in.

An interesting debate in the UK is about Travellers or Gypsies, as you may refer to them as.

There is a big divide in the UK as some believe that they are bad people due to all the littering, crime, thefts and whatnots. Whereas others believe they are nice people.

But how do these impressions come about?

Well, it’s simply: experience.

One experience with a group of people can affect their opinion. The people that are friends with them often have a positive opinion, whereas those that have suffered have negative opinions.

Where I live, in London, the opinion on Travellers is mostly negative. It’s hard to find unbiased research on this topic, so speaking from experience is the best way. Personally, I know people who have had their cars stolen by travellers, and because of this, my opinion isn’t exactly positive.

This is why these opinions can form, and you have to understand this.

You can look around at amazing examples of prejudice. The world wars are a great example of learning about how prejudice forms. Two sides hate each other as they are at war, of course, they aren’t going to like each other’s people. Especially in a time where you’d have little experience with people from other countries.

Another example I saw was a ‘meme’ that said ‘causes of transphobia…’. I can’t exactly remember the meme, but just know that it was a pie chart that was filled with one colour and the colour was linked to ‘transphobes’.

I looked at this meme wondering what it was trying to prove. What was its goal? What did it plan to accomplish? This meme’s very existence will change nothing. Because it tells or teaches nothing, nor does it attempt to understand. Experience is the root of prejudice, it always will be. But people don’t seem to want to understand this.

This brings us back around to hypocrisy.

‘I will agree, all men, under the same rules that it applies to other groups.’

Hypocrisy in politics is the death of it, as no one likes to be told they are wrong.

Arguments happen all the time because people won’t shut up and listen to others. They believe they are correct in every way and others should follow their words like the bible.

To improve, we just need to listen, we need to care less about ourselves and our own opinions, because whilst we can and should say our opinions, we should also listen to others. But we should also stay objective to others opinions. We shouldn’t automatically agree with someone, like the robot most people, are just because they like the same politics. We should listen and form our own opinion based on their experience, re-evaluate ourselves and move on.

Think of it like making a cake without a recipe and you know nothing about baking or cakes. You keep trying and learning until you get what could be called a cake, and then you keep adding to your recipe, making more and more changes until you’ve reached what you’re satisfied with.

We don’t need to make a big deal out of things. We don’t need to worry about things to the point where we riot and kill each other over it. We just need to listen.

And if you truly wish to change the world, if you have the determination to do so, then become a politician. Sharing posts on Instagram or Twitter does a little drip above nothing. Politics is impossible to change from the outside. It’s a corruption that no matter how much is exposed will never suffer unless taken down from the inside.

Thanks for reading. I’m going to end this here as I feel like I’m repeating myself. What you take from it is whatever you want. Just remember, that this is my opinion, and you should always listen to an opinion no matter what. You should always look for an opportunity to learn or educate, and listening to someone with a different view is an amazing place to do so. You could learn about why they think what they do, why they are who they are and so much more, and they could do the same for you. You’ll learn how unique and interesting humanity is.

It’s up to us to teach the future generation, but not force them to follow our ways, they must make their own judgement on the world and the people that occupied it.

Originally, I wasn’t going to post this. I wrote it on August 10th and let it sit around but I thought I may as well have a variety of thoughts, opinions and ideas and all these are good for the world.
