If I asked ‘Who does the world revolve around?’ you’d probably all answer something different.
Now, this topic is interesting, and also a good topic for debate. But, I just wanted to speak my thoughts on such a thought.
First off, the world will never revolve around the person thinking such an idea. If you protest something and believe you are making a change, you probably aren’t, because in this world it’s the ones in power that decide.
But then, who puts these people into power?
It’s an interesting contradiction. When people protest, they are thought to be ‘the majority against the government’.
But is this the case?
It’s hard to say.
For starters, the people protesting are usually in the right. I say ‘usually’ because in some cases they are, but their methods are in the wrong.
An example of this is the Extinction Rebellion. These are people that want the government to do something about climate change. It’s a good idea, but their methods are what is wrong.
When it comes to protesting, a typical method is to ‘annoy the masses’. People block roads, smash businesses windows and shut down streets with their marches, but for what? If anything, this idea stops people from joining your protest.
A while ago the Extinction Rebellion smashed 19 windows at HSBC London. Their reason for this doesn’t matter because what they did contradicts their reason. Their entire goal is to stop climate change, but by smashing windows they are adding to it. It’s no secret that you need fire to make these windows. By damaging the windows, they are making HSBC use more fossil fuels. And that is prominent in a lot of protesting, hypocrisy.
But that doesn’t matter, because what I’m trying to ask is if people believe they can change the mind of a billion-dollar company.
The short answer, no.
The long answer, nooooooooo.
Why would a company that earns millions or billions listen to one or one thousand people?
It’s easy to boycott a small company due to its presence, but trying to boycott a company like Amazon is difficult. Amazon is everywhere.
And even if 1000 people stopped using amazon, they still have millions.
In case you didn’t know, this is about Twitch.
Twitch.tv is a streaming service and on September 1st 2021, there will be a ‘walk out’ in protest of hate raids and such.
Now, I agree that hate raids are awful. There are too many trolls on the platform and it is too easy to troll, something needs to be done about it.
Is not streaming on twitch the solution?
No.
Why? You ask.
Because the world is split into two halves.
East and west.
In fact, it’s split into many more, but for the sake of simplicity, let’s say east and west.
This is a western issue, in fact, a lot of politics is a western issue. This is an issue that America has deemed a problem and thus the UK has followed suit and the rest of the world has to agree with.
But, if you eliminate western civilisation, what does that mean? Well, it means that Twitch still has half its viewer base. And, as long as a company like Twitch has half, then they don’t care.
But, of course, what I said is an ideal situation. In reality, the entirety of Twitch’s western streamers will not give in to this ‘walk out’ and thus Twitch will lose little.
We live in a society where you must give in to those that scream.
You can say it as it is but that is reality. I wrote a post about hypocrisy and bias a while ago, but never posted it due to how political it was. I don’t want this blog to get political.
But to get back to the question ‘who does the world revolve around?’, I’d say the masses, but not in the sense of protests or such.
The best way to make a difference is always to vote. Democracy is a gift and not everyone is lucky to have it.
But you can’t convince everyone to agree with you, and people have to accept that.
I don’t want to go too much into it as I believe that it’s best to form your own opinion. It’s best if you take things seeing all possible sides.
I don’t want this blog to get political and I am writing and posting this whilst drunk, and if you read my 100th post, you know that a lot of other posts were written that way, and I want to stop it.
As I always say, it’s my opinion. The above is my opinion. You can disagree, but if you wish for others to see your side, you have to disagree logically. Logical debate is needed more than ever.
I do have some other political posts with my opinions on them that I may release but for now, that’s all I’ve got.
