In a world of 7 billion, what are you?
In a world of 7 billion, how many people know you?
And in a world of 7 billion, what actually matters?
It’s impossible to say what matters because everyone will differ.
What matters to me, and what matters to you is different.
The simple things could matter to you, whilst the impossible could matter to me.
Of course, the impossible will never come true, and because of that, it means that what I desire will never come true.
But is that fair?
If we say that out of 7 billion, only 90% of people live the life they want that leaves 7 hundred million to never achieve what they desire. When you think about that number, that’s a big number. Because your scale is small. Your scale is based around your life, and typically, your life revolves around a much smaller number.
On average, we can assume that everyone has around 5-10 friends, which means, in relation to our 7 hundred million, you and your friends will achieve their dreams.
But of course, we are talking about an idealistic number.
The percentage of 90, was something I made up, as there is no actual percentage of such a statistic. Well, I suppose there could be, but since everyone’s final desire is different we can’t say.
In reality, we are probably looking at a 5% chance, meaning that 6 billion 650 million people aren’t going to achieve their dreams or desires.
That’s a fairly big number.
We can look at history, and think of the number of ‘memorable’ figures. We can try to think about how many people we remember of the billions we don’t know about. The Earth has lived for far too long, and history has forgotten more than we’ll ever know.
So, to answer my question of, if my personal desires not coming true is fair, then I’d say yes, it is fair.
It is completely fair that my desires won’t come true, based on statistics alone.
But this can be frustrating, and it certainly is.
You are entering a lottery to hope you live the life you wish. The chances of you winning is impossibly small. But then, that could relate to your desire.
I think we can say that depending on the greed of such a desire, depends on the probability.
If your desire involves no one but yourself and one other person, then the chances could easily be 100%, but should it involve more, then you’ll see an exponential growth.
Personally, I’d say 50 people is a lot in this world, especially considering many other factors.
Although there are 7 billion people in this world, you have to think about many factors.
Let’s think of this blog post as an example.
I’m writing this post in English. According to a quick google search, 360 million people speak English, which means I’m limited to 360 million. But then, we must assume the number of people that use the internet regularly, and the number of people that look at random blogs. Or we have to assume the number of people that will take their time reading this, and the number of people that would have discovered it randomly.
Suddenly, we are down to less than a million.
Possibly, even less than 100.
So what’s my point?
I think, what I’m trying to say is that, in a world of 7 billion, in the case of creativity, we are looking for far too big of validation.
The idea of easy success is far too common amongst many people. Youtube and Twitch have given the idea that anyone can become famous.
But just looking at the numbers, the chances of one person becoming famous is astronomically impossible.
So, why bother?
Why do we try? And why do we keep going?
If I can speak for myself, it’s because; why not?
What else is there in this world, if not leaving a mark on this tainted universe.
You live less than 100 years, living such a short but long life is impossible, so you can only hope to be remembered.
But in a world of 7 billion, your chances are impossible. But, I suppose, if I’m anything to go off, it doesn’t hurt but to try.
But, I also think it’s important to know when to give up, and when to understand that luck isn’t on your side.
Thanks for reading. I was just rambling here, as I wanted something to post. I’ve definitely spoken about fame and fortune a thousand times before, and it’s always a topic I’ll have a lot to talk about, but for now, that’s all from me.
Again, thanks for reading. Be sure to follow the page, and hopefully, I’ll have some more stuff at some point.
