[Monday, Registration]
At around the age of 15, you start to think about a lot of different things. Not only do we have to focus on our exams, but the main thing for a lot of people is love. Everyone wants to fall in love at some point, it’s the reason we exist, so we can continue our bloodline… but I guess when you word it like that it does sound kinda creepy.
I’ve been in the same class as some of these people for years now and I’ve gotten to know a bit about everyone. Most of the girls go for the ‘sporty’ type, not interested in a guy like me who sits around and plays games all day.
Ah, That reminds me, I haven’t introduced myself.
My name is Owen. I’m currently 15 years old turning 16 in April. I’m your average looking person, with typical bed hair, my defining feature if I do so say myself.
It’s currently September which means school has started up again. We have just begun our journey into Year 11 at school. That’s right, British School.
I’m a lovely person (not really) who cares greatly about everyone (another lie) and is always positive about my life and future (is very depressed inside) I also always tell the truth (clearly).
I wouldn’t exactly call myself popular. I’m what you would describe as socially awkward, but luckily for my self-esteem; I’m not alone.
One of my best friends is called Ethan. Just like me, he enjoys video games and nerdy things. That’s probably why we get along. He ain’t that great looking though; I’d say he is about a 5 on a good day. Today he looks like a 3 maybe you could push it up to a 4 if you aren’t wearing your glasses.
Ethan is really smart, like top of the class smart. He isn’t too bad when it comes to talking to girls, he just doesn’t know how to deal with them and often finds himself embarrassed about things he has said.
The other friend I got is called Sean. He isn’t that good looking either but he has potential. He is part of the School’s Football team and also enjoys watching documentaries. Ticks a lot of boxes for some girls somewhere.
He is overwhelming positive which makes me puke, and will always take a risk.
I admire him cause he has asked girls out before the issue is what he says, saying “Are you camera cause every time I look at you I smile” only makes people cringe and call him creepy.
Basically, overall he is just an idiot.
The three of us together are the ‘Weird Group’, everyone in our class calls us that and we are used to it. The teachers even started sitting us all on the same table cause people would refuse to talk to us, but that’s how it should be.
…
Hmm, something doesn’t seem right, almost as if I’m forgetting to mention something.
I thought I covered the base of it all?
Let’s see… School, Year 11, Girls, Lame Friends, More Girls….
Ah oh well, if not I’m sure I can mention it at a later date.

Slippy’s Comment:
Normally I won’t have something like this at the bottom but I just wanted to clear some things up regarding British Education. If you know how British Education works then you don’t need to read this, if you don’t care then you don’t need to read this, but if you do care or just want to understand how the series is laid out then read this. I’ll try my best to explain it all.
First off, British school is two main parts, Primary and Secondary Education, Primary school lasts from years 1 – 6 (Age 5-6 to Age 10-11) After that you move to a Secondary School for years 7 – 11 (Age 11-12 to Age 15-16). After year 11 you are given the option to either go into Sixth Form (years 12 – 13) or go to a college/Apprenticeship, but we only care about Sixth Form in this story.
The British Secondary School year starts in September and ends in July, there is a two-week break for Christmas and Easter along with a week break in between called ‘half-term’ (basically halfway through the term so you get a week off) as well as a longer break during summer before School starts again.
This story takes place in Year 11 around the ages of 15-16. At the end of year 11, you are presented with exams called GCSE’s (General Certificate of Secondary Education) these results are really important and do greatly impact your future, the typical student usually takes probably around 10 -13 GCSE’s (I think, it might have changed since I did them). If you get high enough grades in 5+ of these including Maths and English, then you can go into Sixth Form.
Regarding Time Tables. The average school day lasts from around 8:30 am – 3 pm (this will change depending on what school you go to but this is what mine was like). Lessons didn’t start till 9 am but the time between 8:30 and 9 was registration or Form Time. Everyone was put into a Form (basically a class) and had a teacher that was responsible for the Form. This was basically just a thing in the morning where the teachers make sure you are marked in so they know if you are in school or not.
After that, you can go to lessons.
Lessons also change depending on school but in this story, the lessons will be based off what I went through, 6 50 minute lessons, two breaks and then done for the day. Lessons can either be a single or a double, a single is a 50-minute session of a subject whereas a double is two 50-minute sessions of the same subject back to back, almost every subject has a double and single session.
The two breaks are fitted in after every two lessons. So the basic time table would look like this.
Registration – Lesson 1 – Lesson 2 – 20 min break- Lesson 3 – Lesson 4 – 40 min lunch break – Lesson 5 – Lesson 6 – Home.
Lessons in year 11 combine people from your whole year, earlier years all your lessons will be with the people in your Form however from year 9 onwards they are mixed up with people in your year instead.
Finally seating in lessons. Typical classroom layouts consist of multiple ‘tables’ these ‘tables’ are actually two rectangular tables that have been pushed together in some way to make a Tetris piece, usually 4 people will sit at a ‘table’ and there are around 6 ‘tables’ in each class.
I think that’s all of it if you would like to read more I’ve included a link to a Wikipedia page for Education in England. Anything else will hopefully be covered in a future chapter if needed.
I hope you all enjoy this new series which is a bit different to something I’ll normally do, but hopefully, it turns out good.
Thanks for reading.
